Astronomy evening and History trip

We have had a busy last week at MECE.  Our year 7 students enjoyed a History Trip to Reading Abbey and Reading Museum.  They are currently studying the Battle of Hastings and the Bayeux Tapestry in their History lessons and it was amazing to see the tapestry! They also s re- enacted the whole of the Norman Conquest, which saw some fantastic acting as well as bringing a significant historic event to life. Meanwhile, our year 11s had a productive visit to Henley College for some taster sessions.  They were particularly immersed in forensic science and criminology!

On Friday we had a fantastic Astronomy Evening.  Our year 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to handle space debris as well as listening to several talks, including a broad view of the universe, our solar system and an insight into the fantastic Stellarium planetarium software!  A selection of telescopes were set up on the field and once the clouds had cleared we were able to see the moon, Saturn and Jupiter (and 4 of it's moons!).
